I've ruled out it being a GPU and PSU problem and at this point I'm completely lost. Yesterday while watching a youtube video my computer lost power again. So next I went out and bought a new EVGA 650W GS (tier 1) PSU and installed it in case it was a PSU issue. So I sent the GTX 970 in for a replacement, got the new one back, installed it, and the problem persisted. I monitor my temps and everything seems to be cool (assuming they're accurate), and as I said, this never happened before upgrading to a new GPU.
As soon as I upgraded to a GTX 970 a couple weeks ago my computer would start shutting down randomly when playing games, watching something in VLC media player, or even a simple youtube video. I've been using a GTX 650Ti for the past year and a half with no issues.
